KAMAKURA JAPANESE CAFE - PANTAI INDAH KAPUK
Kamakura is the name of one of the cities in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. The city became famous because there is a big Buddha statue. But this time I will not discuss the Kamakura city, but Kamakura as in the Japanese cafe in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta.
From the outside this place looked very modern and minimalist. A long line of wooden planks, decorating the outer window. It looked so clean, simple and elegant.
Arriving inside, immediately you could see the cashier counter, a cake display window and a shelf containing magazines. From here I could see the whole cafe.
This cafe area was not so wide and was divided into two types of tables, couple seat on the front and family seat on the inside.
The best scenery of Kamakura is at the front, because in here you can see vines decorating a wooden structure on the ceiling and the you can see the outside through the outer window.
The Kamakura, has graciously invited me and my foodies friends to triy their menus, starting from the main courses to the desserts. I'm going to discuss each one of them below.

This is the new menu. I love salmon especially salmon roll and this one is no exception. You can ask for full or half serve. The spicy salmon roll is out of this world delicious because the sauce is quite spicy, bursting rich flavor in your mouth.
Aburi Mentai Salmon Rice Bowl (78K)

I loved everything about this dish. The mentai was torched to perfection and complemented with fresh and tender salmon slices. The generous slices of salmon and mentaiko were laid over a bed of Japanese rice, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner!

Tomato Cream Pasta with Fresh Crab From Market Today
Chef's recommendation. They used a whole crab obtained daily from the market. It was a pasta that has the appearance and taste of luxury.
Very delicious. This is my first time eating pasta with a whole crab on top. Not too creamy that would make you nauseous! Really good, but just needed effort to eat. While usually people come here to "nongkrong cantik", I had to get my hands dirty to open crab meat. But it's worth it and you must try!
Kamakura Syle Matcha Drink Set (68K)
This one was matcha pancake, served with vanilla ice cream, red bean, sweet potato as a topping and syrup. Very delicious! It's just not as fluffy as I expected, although its thicker compared to the other pancakes that exist in Jakarta, but it is baked very well. This pancake was truly cooked to the middle, very soft texture, perfectly baked for me. Overall I really like pancake matcha in here.
Matcha Ice Cube (38K)
It consists of matcha ice cubes, fresh milk and liquid sugar. Do not pour all of the sugar in it because it will be to sweet. For your information matcha powder Kamakura uses is directly imported from Japan. I found out there are red bean inside the cube. The matcha doesn’t taste too bitter and suitable for matcha first timer.
Thai Tea Ice Cube (38K)
It consists of thai tea ice cubes, fresh milk and liquid sugar. Something different but totally works. The uniqueness of this drink is the freedom to customize the drink, because the sugar and milk are provided separately, we can automatically adjust the level of sweetness.
Chocolate Ice Cube (38K)
It is a chocolate drink consisting of warm milk, chocolate frozen cubes and liquid sugar served separately. Just pour the warm milk into a glass of frozen chocolate, add sugar according to taste, stir briefly and the drink is ready to be sipped. A sweet taste that fits, a subtle hint of chocolate and supported with a savory steamed plain milk, and an attractive appearance, making this drink suitable for you to try. Yummy!
Virgin, Mojito Ice Cube (38K)
This is really really good, without the added sugar. the sweetness is ok, and the plain soda adds the freshness to it. Recommended!
Overall, Kamakura had a cozy modern style and a nice place for chilling out! The food was good and the portion was more than enough. No compromising to the taste, quality and serving. The price was affordable specially considering it's located in Pantai Indah Kapuk area.
