ABURA SOBA YAMATOTEN TOKYO - PIK AVENUE MALL

On Friday, June 2nd, Abura Soba Yamatoten opened its newest branch in North Jakarta. Specifically at PIK Avenue Mall. Actually Abura Soba Yamatoten has moved from the previous place before also in PIK, to PIK Avenue.

At the time of opening, along with other blogger friends, we had the opportunity to try their food here.

The interior was very Japanese, the feel of yellowish lighting with pine wood material with natural finishing made us feel like we were at the real location in Tokyo. The place was quite large because the arrangement of the tables were so neat that gave the impression of a large area.

Abura Soba itself is a franchise restaurant from Tokyo. Their main menus were soba or rice, they also served various side dishes. There are 2 topping options for the soba or rice : pork/chicken.

How to eat abura soba? To eat abura soba, there was a special way that should be applied like the picture above. Pour two rounds of vinegar & two rounds of chili oil (bottles in the picture below), then stir quickly until all the sauces are well blended, and enjoy it while it's hot.

Abura Soba is very customizable, so we could mix the flavors that could be tailored to our own preference.

Aburi Chashu Don (69K)

Slice of Pork Marinated in Special Soy Sauce, Served Over Hot Rice and Topped with Homemade Aburi Sauce. It's Simple and Warming

Some chashu pieces were placed on top of white rice, finished with green onion and shredded nori. The soy sauce flavour in the chashu was very tasty and the meat was also quite tender. Perfect for pork lover!

Umewasabi Abura Soba (68K)

Abura Soba Served Cold! It Is Refreshing with a Tangy Touch of Special Plum and Wasabi Paste. Topped with Dried Seaweed, Fresh Tomato, Crispy Dumpling Skin and Chicken Chashu

Abura Soba Served Cold! It Is Refreshing with a Tangy Touch of Special Plum and Wasabi Paste. Topped with Dried Seaweed, Fresh Tomato, Crispy Dumpling Skin and Chicken Chashu

The menu was quite unique. The soba was served cold with a plum and wasabi paste. To be honest when I saw there was a cold soba menu, I was immediately curious to try this menu. I liked the wasabi very much. The wasabi was not too strong, so I could enjoy this soba. The dumpling skin was crispy and salty. If you want to try something new, you can try this menu!

Shigure Abura Soba (68K)

Minced Pork with Special Sauce on Top of Famous Abura Soba, Served with Chopped Spring Onions and Sesame Seeds

Pieces of minced pork sprinkled over Soba and this one also the favorite menu because the meat is much and easy to mix.

Chicken Karaage (38K)

This chicken karaage was a bit different from other restaurants. Usually chicken karaage was fried chicken with flour, but in here the chicken seemed to be grilled or fried without flour. It tasted good, the chicken was tender, the marinade was right, the skin was also delicious. Given a little lemon splashes to be fresher.

Gyoza (32K)

Gyoza appearance here is somewhat different from some other Japanese restaurant, the difference? There was a clear grill mark at the gyoza's bottom part, and had a stronger grill aroma. A bit too oily indeed I think, but still very delicious.

Soft Broiled Pork (48K)

The pork was fatty, a bit dry, but still quite tender and tasty.

Thank you Yamatoten Abura Soba for the invitation. Good luck always! And now more accessible in many locations, we can eat here more often!

So, have you tried YAMATOTEN ABURA SOBA TOKYO? Go, visit their new outlet in PIK AVENUE MALL and enjoy a warm bowl of delicious abura soba!
